How close do you need to tap, and how fast does it read?
Under 4cm, and it opens in under a second.
NFC has an intentionally short range — the phone needs to be within about 4cm (under 2 inches) of the card, essentially touching it. That's a deliberate design choice: it prevents your card from being read accidentally from across a room.
Once the phone is close enough, reading is near-instant — the profile link opens in under a second, faster than most people can register that anything happened.
If a tap doesn't register right away, the most common cause is holding the card against the wrong part of the phone — most phones' NFC antenna sits near the upper-back camera module, not the center of the phone.
QR backup on every card
No NFC, or NFC switched off? Every SmartCard has a printed QR code that opens the exact same profile through any phone's camera.
Nothing to hack remotely
The chip only stores a link — there's no login, wallet, or session on the card itself for anyone to break into.
Tap to share — no app needed
iPhone or Android, old or new — if it has a camera or NFC, it works. No one needs to download anything.
